Hope's Pantry
Hope's Pantry began with a vision and became reality in January 2000 taking the burden of Isaiah 58:7... share your food with the hungry. Seeing the poverty and needs of our community, stirred our hearts with compassion. Our ministry to individuals and families is done on a very personal basis to meet the needs of people as they identify their needs, even connecting them to other community resources.
An example of the different ministries are community outreaches which include; providing clothing, toys, and household goods to the general public at various times throughout the year.
Our goals are to educate people on nutrition, personal hygiene, and household management. We believe if we are ministering effectively, we must minister to the whole man, mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially.
Hope for Christmas
Each year we give out nearly $8000 in toys to families in Barbour County so they will have a Christmas. The 2009 Outreach was a success as over 300 kids were blessed with gifts this Christmas. Thank You to everyone who came out and helped and of course a very BIG Thank You to the members of the community for donating to this wonderful outreach.
Blanket the Homeless
This will be a Local, Regional, and National Outreach supported by Haven of Hope. We will be going to cities in West Virginia and some Major Cities throughout the United States. Our mission is to blanket the homeless with a new blanket and with the Love and Grace of God.
Hope's Heart Bag Mat Fellowship
This project turns ordinary grocery bags into waterproof mats. These mats keep the person dry, off the cold ground and can be rolled up and easily carried.
3 Easy Ways to Help:
1. Collect grocery bags and bring them to church.
2. Cut the bags and get them prepared to be made into mats.
3. Anyone who crochets, or wants to learn, crochets them into mats.
We will meet at the Wilkinson home on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 4 to 7pm (Not obligated to stay the full 3 hours, any time given is appreciated). Feel free to join us for a great time of fun and fellowship for a worthy cause. All mats will be collected during the 1st or 2nd week of December. For more info contact Alice or Paula at 304-457-1090.
